You can find my work in The Atlantic, Bloomberg's CityLab, Scientific American, National Geographic, Science Magazine, One Zero and more. Previously, I also served as a regular contributor to Discover Magazine.
Besides general consumer publications, I write for Waste Dive, the American Society of Civil Engineers digital magazine and other business-to-business publications, often reporting on the nitty-gritty details of how industries can shift towards more sustainable practices. I'm also a staff researcher for Knowable Magazine and a part-time fact checker for Wirecutter.
I hold a master's degree in science journalism from New York University. Before that, I earned my undergraduate degrees in human physiology, anthropology and dance from the University of Iowa. And before that, I was the tall kid in the back of class pictures whose transition lenses were still dark when the photo was taken.
